Old Kirkpatrick had a Barn!

Ha! Here are a few more pics of progress. Tonight we actually covered all the flooring with plastic to protect it from rain/snow until we can get the top done. It all seems to go slower than we want it to.

A boxy kind of pillow and soft wool

I bought a package of blue pillow boxes and pink pillow boxes at Micheals not too long ago. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with them, but thanks to my new Slice machine, I have decorated them oh so cutely! Aren't these little onesies I stamped with the tiniest whale stamp adorable? I also did the yellow ducky ones, but my favorites are the onesies. I have been finishing a headband order for a lady and they all turned out nicely. I made an extra one too. Worked on the barn on and off all weekend and actually my hubby is out in the freezing cold still nailing on flooring as I write this post. We  had several people from our church come out today and help him with all this flooring. I just made cookies and chili and hotdogs. I think I got the easy job for sure. I took some pictures and I will try to post them tomorrow. Hope you have all had a great weekend.

Wow! Has it really been that long?

Goodness, I can't believe it has been that long since my last post. I have been helping my husband with our new barn (we actually have quite a bit more done than the picture shows-just no pics yet) and also busy doing Etsy orders too. I have been working on several new things. I also finished my second Fear of Commitment cowl. I will have to get pictures of that soon. In the meantime, for your viewing pleasure....

Recycled wool pillow and pretty little projects

I have had this sweater cut up for months (maybe a year) and have never finished sewing it up and trying to sew some wool flowers to decorate it. It wasn't a hard project, but for some reason it took a very backseat. Last night I finished it up during the presidential debate. It was really a project for trying new things. I am not totally finished with it, but it is no longer in pieces or in a stack.
I also finished this cute cotton crochet flower pin. I love the colors-like rainbow sherbet you can wear!

I have also been stamping more bags-180 to be exact. I had several orders to do, so between last night and this afternoon, I finished them all. The birds and tags are the ones I did this afternoon. It is fun creating these little pieces of fabric art.

A Little Bit of Greece

I meant to post some of these pictures earlier from our second unit celebration for school. We had a great time doing Olympic events and playing Jeopardy, not to mention eating foods from many areas we studied. (All ancient civilizations-China, Mayan, Greece, Israel, etc) Tapestry is packed with great stuff for me and my kids. Love learning right along with them!

Another Fear of Commitment Cowl in the Works

Around the end of November I ordered 5 skeins of alpaca/silk yarn-all different colorways from a great seller on Etsy. I love the name of her shop-"A Yarn or a Tale" and she has great wool and yarn too! My first cowl was made from some of her yarn. I got a really good deal on these because she said they had been tied a little too tight before she kettle dyed them. I think they are beautiful. I went with the denim colorway first and it just feels like butter in your hand. So warm and cozy! Hope to be finished with it soon so it will get some wear before spring. Happy Knitting!
PS If you are a block quilter or want to be, look up craftsy.com. Amy Gibson has a "FREE" block of the month class online. My mom keeps me informed about all the quilting classes she finds.

Vintage Value Jewelry

So I have been going through all of the vintage costume jewelry that used to belong to my husband's grandmother. I don't wear clip on earrings and a girl can only have so many bead necklaces. I decided to list much of what she had on my Etsy, so I have been taking tons of pictures and describing all of these little baubles this evening. Jewelry is fun and I wish I were better at wearing it, but alas I am quite the plain Jane. Maybe others will find Nanny's jewelry irresistible!

Second Unit Celebration and more bags

We had our second Tapestry unit celebration tonight and it was fun. We had tons of interesting foods and we had "mock" Olympic games and then Jeopardy. We have studied the Ancient cultures and have been reading through the Old Testament. We have plenty of smart kids in our co-op. It was fun to watch them answer all of the questions-most of the time better than the adults. They really do learn! I will put some pics up soon of our feast and fun.
On another note, I really thought all of this bag stamping would slow way down after Christmas, but not the case. Today I had a lady request a bag size that I don't have. I normally stick to all 3X5 bags. She wanted a 5X8 bag with specific items on it for her daughter's birthday. I have sewed a sample one from cotton muslin and I kinda like it. Still waiting to here from her. I just made it after our Unit Celebration, so it's very late. I have also been playing around with Stazon and cellophane bags. It actually works. Oh the possibilities! Have a blessed day tomorrow. We will be off to church!

Valentines and the Chinese New Year

I had a few unusual requests on my Etsy this week. One customer asked if I had a dragon stamp? She said in a later conversation that she was having a Chinese New Year party and needed some favor bags. I told her I had lanterns and she said that would definitely work. I have also been stamping Valentine's bags. They are so fun. How about you? Do you make your own homemade cards and bags or do you have a store bought favorite? My kids loved the cartoon themed Valentines when they were little. I hope to get in some card making this week as well. Would love to see some of your creations.

Pinky Minky Blanket

Well Happy New Year to all! I have been absent in blogland for a bit. We have been visiting with family and I have been in clean up and clean out mode over the last week. I have been reorganizing craft supplies and using a few new ones. I  bought a Slice Elite machine with a gift card that my church gave me as a Christmas present. I have only used it a little but it is pretty cool. Will have some more on that later. Today I decided to put together a pink Minky ribbon tag blanket. They are so cute and they are also a handy travel or security blanket size. May have to make some more of these. I can't believe how many different Minky fabrics are out there. They are pretty expensive. I bought this 2 1/2 yard piece while I was in Knoxville. They had the whole bolt marked down to $7 a yard. Basically that is half price. I am still stamping bags and making a few Valentine's for my Etsy too. I am looking forward to a New Year and learning to do some new crafts and hopefully do a little more sewing. Maybe I will post a little more frequently to my blog too!
